The Story Behind Deaura

A Note From Our Co-founder, Ojal 

Before Deaura was born, I was working as a cabin crew member in my 20s. Flying across the US and UK, I noticed something I couldn’t stop thinking about: women everywhere were wearing the most stunning jewellery, pieces that looked like real gold, but were actually gold-plated, waterproof, and safe on the skin. 

They wore it everywhere. In the shower, at the gym, in the pool. No fading, no green marks, no irritation. It was beautiful, effortless and elevated everyday jewellery that didn’t come with the price (or stress) of real gold. 

When I came back to India, the contrast hit me. We were still stuck choosing between two extremes: cheap jewellery that tarnishes in weeks or causes skin reactions, and real gold that’s too expensive and honestly, too nerve-wracking to wear every day. 

That’s when I first thought about starting Deaura. 

I wanted to bring the same quality I’d seen abroad to women here at home. Jewellery that feels luxurious but is made for daily life, sweat, water, showers, workouts and all. Something you don’t have to constantly take off, or worry about losing. Something that lasts. 

At Deaura, we use 316L surgical-grade stainless steel, the same material trusted in medical surgeries. It’s strong, safe for all skin types, and designed to last. Our pieces are coated in 18K PVD Gold Plated, an advanced plating technique that makes them highly durable, waterproof, and resistant to tarnish.

The Meaning Behind the Name 

The name Deaura isn’t just a brand. It’s a story.

“Dea” is drawn from “Dia” or “Diya” – that lights up our homes during Diwali. It symbolizes hope, abundance, and the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. 

“Aura” speaks to glow. To presence. To that quiet, golden power every woman carries within her, whether she knows it or not.
